What We Do?

Epperson’s Behavioral Healthcare focuses on the mission to help improve the lives of those who are suffering from mental illness. Its purpose is to decrease the stigma on mental illness, decrease barriers to access of care of mental healthcare, decrease the mental health crisis in our communities and to help individuals get back to the quality of life they deserve. Epperson’s Behavioral Healthcare was established this year in March 2022 after seeing several reports of mental illness and suicide rates dramatically increased within the communities of Houston, Texas.
The rates of anxiety and/or depression symptoms that were reported increased to 34.2% this year compared to 17.2% in 2018-2019 (Blankley, 2021). In the state of Texas, suicide mortality rates have climbed from an alarming 36% to 61% in 2 years with the older adult population, ages 51-64 (Blankley, 2021). Suicide mortality rates in women have increased to 50% while high school males attempted suicide rates have doubled. Now post COVID, suicide is the leading cause of death between the ages of 15-34 years of age. Due to these alarming statistics, this clinic was formulated to help and do its part in combatting mental illness and decrease these alarming and sad rates in our communities. The number one goal of Epperson’s Behavioral Healthcare is to address such issues, give clients a warm, sincere, empathetic and non-judgmental atmosphere while tending to their issues to combat mental health symptoms and get them back to the quality of life they deserve and hope for.
